Forensic Medicine Museum: Not for the faint-hearted

on:Warning: Please do not read this entry before having/ during/ after your meals or if you’re afraid of movies like Saw or The Eye, or if you’re a scaredy cat like my dear cousin Xiuwei. Haha! I really did feel a bit stress when i was touring the museum and I’ve watched all Saw I to Saw IV ok! And i don’t think i dare to visit the museum alone.
Website of the museum: http://www.si.mahidol.ac.th/museums/en/m2.htm
Pictures are not very good quality because photography is prohibited. But i did promise pictures, so i took some discreetly. You still have to visit the museum personally to enjoy the full gore because what I’ve taken is probably only 10% of all the scary bits! Also for those who want to visit or will be visiting, don’t look, because might be a spoiler!
At first, i was contemplating whether to post pictures of some of the dead, because i think what are displayed are actually real corpse and not replicas or models. But everything displayed there is in the name of science and is displayed for the public eye anyway, so i personally felt that it should be alright if i posted some up. But feel free to let me know if anything is offensive to you. I’ll remove any photo promptly if anyone have any issues with any of it.
Sit back, hold your heart and get ready to be freaked out!

There were bones of all parts… Some of the smaller bones were in… Mountains? They all are just grouped together in one big heap… And you know, i think the cabinet the bones are displayed in, are not air-tight at all. Not like those sealed glass kind. This is like an ordinary cupboard. You’re inhaling bone dust!
There were pictures of decapitated heads, a man run over by a car and wheel tires across his face and body, a child whose body was all crushed up (presumably by a machine)…
Mummified and stored in a cupboard? The merely tape the doors together so not air-tight!. Again, I’m breathing in corpse air! Yeah, i know i think too much… If i am not wrong, and according to reviews I’ve read, it’s the preserved body of the murderer. Which means, its a real-life corpse!
There were also several coins and toys by all the displays of the babies. There was also a display of Siamese twins. They have 2 heads, but one body and they share one set of organs. Very amazing and interesting.
After this, it was random-walking in the vicinity. There was narrow stretches of roads with shops, mostly selling things for women. Nu3 ren2 de4 qian2 zhui4 rong2 yi4 zhuan4! (Translate: Women’s money are the easiest to earn!)
I was told that all Thai boys have to go to Military school once a week, for 20 weeks each year for at least 3 years or you have to go to the army for 2 years. In that case, i think everyone will simply choose once a week, 20 weeks, 3 years over full-time for 2 years! If you didn’t do either, like our dear friend Bon, just pay money! Money makes the World go round! $$$ I think about 30,000baht?
Update: Was just told that paying not to go to Army, is actually a bribe to the officer! hahaha! I thought it was one of the choice given! Silly me!
